Sassy Sigmonne Adams

Good evening Beautiful people of the world

So i know the month of August is almost over and i hardly ever did any posts . Well blame it on my unpredictable schedule . I was cramped with so much to do and it seems the work load will never die down , but as promised i still have a few posts up my sleeve. A lady that has always caught my attention and not because of her beautiful smile but her inner beauty that shines right through her .No one other but the Sensational Sigmonne Adams i asked her a few questions and this i what she had to say .I hope you enjoy getting to know her the way i did :)

My 1st time in the spotlight was when I won the Miss La Rochelle pageant in 2008, soon after that I was contacted by my current agency, Infinity models and signed with them.I have loved the camera since I was a little girl, it has always been a dream of mine.

I officially started to work when I was in matric 2009. It was quite a boom, my first job was for The Cosmopolitan and the Glamour magazines, after than I did fashion and beauty editorials for brands names including Edgars, Foschini, the YOU and Ackerman stores as well as their magazines. I've also done jobs for L'Oreal beauty and a Maybelline New York calendar launch in Cape Town. My first cover was also shot this month for 021 magazine. I have also done photo-library jobs for Scandinavian and German company's.

My biggest job so far would be, one of the leads in the Allan Grey commercial. This was definitely one of my best experiences in the industry so far, I shot for about 4 days with call-times from 05:45 and only ending at 00:20 on some evenings. nevertheless I would do it all over again.

I am 1.73 m so I mostly do editorials, fashion and beauty, if I had the choice though I would definitely do both(editorial and runway) for the recognition and experience. Fashion shows are really exciting, but I enjoy shoots more because each one is so different and you get to transform your normal look to something new and never seen before.

in an ideal world yes I do see myself as a full-time model, but in the real world the modeling industry doesn't offer guarantees. So for now I am doing the balancing act between my studies and being a part-time model.
The modeling industry is not just fun and smiles. as a model you learn to face rejection as well as criticism. As Tyra Banks says, "a smart model is a good model". so I believe that rejection can only make you a stronger person and you have to learn how to change criticism into constructive criticism. As a model you should take responsibility for yourself, because no one else is going to take it for you. A good support system (a trustworthy agent, friends and family) around always helps.
I would also not encourage girls to start modeling at a young age... every job has a bad side, there will always be people who will be mean to you and at young age you are not quite sure how to handle them or even defend yourself.
Modeling is definitely harder than most people think it is. It can be lots of long hours and also a lot of travelling and sacrifice of being away from your friends and family.

Yet seeing yourself on a cover, in a magazine or on television is an incredible experience makes it all worthwhile. I also believe that modeling can also be a great boost to ones confidence. Have you heard the expression by many female actresses and models who state “I don’t get out of bed for anything under $10,000”? hahaha, but to be honest for a 20 year old the pay is good as well.

Regarding my future plans towards modeling, I think the next step I take would be to enter Miss SA, well at least when I feel ready to compete and take on the responsibility. furthermore, I take it one day at a time

Wise words from a beautiful and inspirational lady . I wish you the best of luck for your future Sigmonne . Stay beautiful and Make Paarl Proud xxx
